A. Program Overview

What are Amex Offers on Twitter?

Eligible American Express® Card Members can get great offers and more on Twitter with their connected Card when they Tweet special #hashtags.

How does it work?

American Express can turn your Tweets into exclusive Card Member offers loaded directly to your Card.

  • Connect your eligible American Express® Card at amex.co/twitter.
  • Tweet special offer #hashtags to load offers directly to your Card.
  • Use your connected Card for a qualifying purchase at the merchant within the offer time period to receive savings. Your savings will automatically appear as a statement credit within 90 days of qualifying purchase.
Which American Express Cards are eligible for this program?

You may connect any valid American Express Consumer Card, a Business Card from American Express OPEN® issued in the U.S. by American Express or a licensed third party bank licensed to issue American Express-branded Cards, a registered American Express Serve® Card or a registered American Express Bluebird® Card at amex.co/twitter. American Express Corporate Cards and American Express Prepaid Cards (excluding registered American Express Serve Cards and American Express Bluebird Cards) are not eligible. What if I have more than one American Express Card?

You can only connect one (1) Card per unique Twitter account. Once you Tweet a #hashtag, use the Card you connected to the program to spend at a participating merchant.

How do I get started?

Visit amex.co/twitter to get started. After you sign in to Twitter, you will be redirected to our secure American Express page where you will see two options to connect your Card. If you have an americanexpress.com User ID and Password, you can connect your Card using your americanexpress.com User ID and Password (available only to Eligible Card Members with an American Express Consumer Card, a Business Card from American Express OPEN issued in the U.S. by American Express) or by entering your name, email address, and American Express Card number. If you don’t have an americanexpress.com User ID and Password, simply provide your name, email address and American Express Card number to connect your Card to your Twitter account. Your account information will never be shared with Twitter. Once the connection is complete, American Express will email you a confirmation message.

Please note that hotels, car rental companies, and cruise lines do not accept prepaid cards for charges authorized in advance, even if those cards may be used to settle the final bill. Please check to make sure prepaid cards are accepted before attempting to use your prepaid card to take advantage of offers for these merchants.

What if I don’t have a Twitter account?

You’ll need to create one, and then connect your eligible Card to your Twitter account. Creating a new Twitter account is easy and free. Get started at twitter.com.

Why does American Express need my Card information?

American Express requires your Card information in order to issue you a Statement Credit after you spend at a participating merchant and meet the offer terms. American Express will not share your American Express Card information with Twitter.

Will my account information be shared with Twitter and is this program secure?

No. The accounts are linked with a unique American Express identifier specifically created for this program. Your American Express account information, including Card number and billing address, will not be shared with Twitter.

Who do I contact if I have questions about the program or need help?

If you have a U.S. Card issued by American Express, you can chat with us. Go to americanexpress.com/chatnow and log in to your American Express online account using your americanexpress.com User ID and Password. At your account home page, click on the “?” icon in the upper right hand corner and then click on “Start Live Chat” to chat live with a Customer Care Professional.

If you have a Card issued by a licensed third-party financial institution or a registered American Express Serve® Card or Bluebird® Card, please call the number on the back of your Card to speak with a Customer Service Representative.

B. Offer Information

How do I redeem an offer?

After your Card is connected, Tweet a special offer #hashtag from a participating merchant. You will receive a response from @AmexOffers informing you of a successful enrollment. Once you make a qualifying purchase at the participating merchant on your connected American Express Card, you’ll automatically receive a statement credit within 90 days after American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from the merchant until all of the items from your qualifying purchase have been provided or shipped by the merchant. The statement credit may be reversed if the qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies a transaction as having occurred at a qualifying merchant, the transaction will not qualify for the statement credit. If you Tweet an offer #hashtag prior to connecting your Card, you will be prompted to complete the registration process first and then be automatically eligible for the offer. If you do not see the statement credit within this time period please contact us.

When I tried to Tweet an offer, I got a message that I need to connect first. What does this mean?

In order to be eligible to load and redeem an offer, you must first connect your Card by providing your Card details. Upon successfully connecting your Card at sync.americanexpress.com/twitter, you will be eligible for the offer you Tweeted. We’ll be able to issue Statement Credits after you spend at the participating merchant and meet the offer terms. You can continue to Tweet special #hashtags to be eligible for other offers and you will not be asked for your Card information again.

Do I have to follow a brand in order to receive the offer?

No. You don’t need to follow a particular brand on Twitter to receive an offer. However, by following particular brands, you increase your chances of seeing offers. You can also find available offers on the @AmericanExpress Favorites tab.

Is there a list of participating merchants or current offers?

Please visit the @AmericanExpress Favorites tab to view all current offers or products available through Amex Offers on Twitter.

Can I Tweet multiple special #hashtags within the same Tweet?

Yes. If you Tweet multiple special offer #hashtags within the same Tweet, you will be enrolled in all corresponding offers. Look for a response from @AmexOffers for each valid offer to confirm enrollment. If you have not already completed the connect process, you will first receive a notification with a link to connect your American Express Card with Twitter. Once you connect your Card, you will be enrolled into any eligible offers.

C. General Program

If I have chosen the option of protecting my Tweets, is there any way that I can participate in this Program?

No. If you have selected to protect your Tweets, only your approved followers can view your Tweets. The automated notification handle - @AmexOffers - will not be able to detect if you’ve Tweeted a special offer #hashtag. Therefore, by protecting your Tweets, you will be unable to participate in this program. If you are unsure of whether you have protected your Tweets, log in to your Twitter account and visit your Account Settings Page within the Settings section. Please ensure that the box next to “Protect my Tweets” is unchecked and then select “Save Changes” to participate in this Program.

If I received a replacement Card, do I need to connect my new Card?

If your Card was issued by American Express: American Express will automatically update your replacement Card with your connect information. Any offer enrollments that are still available and not yet redeemed will be automatically transferred to your replacement Card.

If your Card was issued by a third-party bank licensed to issue American Express-branded cards: You will need to disconnect your old Card and then connect your replacement Card to your Twitter account.

I don’t remember which Card I have connected to my Twitter account. What should I do?

Upon successfully connecting your Card, you will receive a confirmation email from American Express. Your confirmation email will contain the last five digits of the Card you successfully connected. You may refer to your confirmation email to determine which Card is connected to your Twitter account. If you can’t locate your confirmation email please contact us.

What if I want to disconnect/change my Card?

You may disconnect/change your Card anytime at sync.americanexpress.com/unsync or by calling the Customer Service number on the back of your Card. Please note that if you disconnect your Card from Amex Offers on Twitter, you will be disconnected from the offers program.
